Wineproof Wine of the Day
We have a clear deep ruby wine from Austria’s famous Burgenland region in our glass.
The nose of this Blaufränkisch is clean and it has a medium intensity aroma of blackberry, plum, redcurrant, chocolate, vanilla, violet but also white pepper and wet stones.
It is a dry wine. Medium (+) acidity, medium (+) ripe tannins, medium alcohol and madium (+) body give this wine an excellent structure. The flavor intensity is medium and we taste flavors alike red cherry, black plum, white pepper and vanilla. The finish is medium (+).
We believe that this is a very good quality wine. It has a mouthwatering acidity and a fruit concentration well balanced with it. If this fruit substance would be more elegant, we would go for an outstanding quality. But still, this wine has everything you might expect.
It is OK to drink this wine now for its pronounced characteristics but it will benefit from some years of development to reach its peak.
